Thursday night, I finally had my first chance of the week to truly RELAX! So after work and a visit to the gym, I headed straight home to make one of my favorite foods — PIZZA! Ever since I learned how to make a super quick and easy dough, pizza has become one of the easiest meals to make. The recipe I’ve eventually settled on is pretty hearty, yet doughy enough for me. I wouldn’t necessarily use it if I wanted a fluffy, thick crust, since I usually divided the dough into 3 portions and roll it out veeeeeeeeeeery thin. Following this recipe, each portion of dough comes out to 290 calories, plus a few extra for flouring the baking stone. Having a healthy base gives me room for lots of toppings, and makes it light enough to eat whenever I have a craving!
Hearty Half Whole Wheat Pizza Dough
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F
In a small bowl, combine 1 cup warm water with 1 package active yeast; stir and let sit approximately 10 minutes
While yeast mixture is settling, mix 1 cup whole wheat flour with 1 cup white flour. Then add 1 tsp salt and 1 tbsp honey to the flour mixture. Slowly stir the yeast into the flour and knead until a soft dough forms.
Use extra flour for dusting/rolling. Add toppings and bake for 10 minutes!
This gorgeous pizza is actually two servings; usually I just make one a time but I wanted leftovers for lunch! Here are a few of my favorite pizzas I’ve made since starting the blog:

Thanks for sharing this recipe! It sounds super easy and looks super delicious. Believe it or not I’ve NEVER made my own pizza dough. Perhaps laziness, perhaps intimidation. Either way, that should change now! I definitely will have to try this soon.

I had to quickly scroll over all those photos because they were making me crave pizza and it’s only 10:30am here 😉 But the last photo is probably my favorite…the calzone looks perfect (crust not too thick, not too thin!).

Thanks for sharing the recipe! All of your pizzas look so good! Here in Sweden pizzerias only make thin crust pizzas. I know in the US it’s more common with thick fluffy crusts.

A gal after my own heart! Have you ever made a Mexican pizza?
Bottom layer is a combo of fat free refried beans mixed with enchilada sauce – then a put cooked chopped diced chicken, canned black beans and canned corn.
Then pepper jack cheese and after it comes out of the oven and cools for a minute, I sprinkle with shredded lettuce and pickled jalapenos – yum!
Great job!

This sounds delicious– Pizza is our family’s favorite foods. We have it a couple times a week. I am always looking for ways to make our food healthier, but Pizza just seemed to difficult to do that. So usually we just use frozen dough or flat bread. But this only takes about 10 minutes for the dough. Thanks for the recipe!
