Staying up late watching True Blood on Saturday left me exhausted I guess because I slept until 10:30 AM on Sunday!!! People, this is a major accomplishment and basically unheard of…usually I wake up by 8:30 on the weekends and consider that an extra two hours, so 10:30 was great. Guess I needed it! I decided to whip up some pancakes again just because it was the weekend and I could! I used 1/2 cup of the whole wheat mixture and added in 1/4 cup of those baby Maine blueberries from Trader Joe’s.ย  Topped with 1/2 banana and 1 tbsp vanilla bean maple syrup, these were delicious! (Still think I liked Saturday’s chocolate pancakes best though!!)

On my cute new plate from Target…I get some type of dish every time I go there!

I basically did nothing Sunday and was insanely lazy. I always have a huge list of things to get done over the weekend but I am so busy during the week that my body and mind just craves relaxation! The kittens and I cuddled on the couch and watched more True Blood.

I decided to use some homemade whole wheat pizza dough to make my late lunch. I rolled the dough out pretty thin and topped it with tomato sauce, light cheese, zucchini, mushrooms, green peppers, vidalia onion and fresh basil. It was really delicious!

I also got into some unnecessary snacks…an un-pictured Skinny Cow and some Puffins. We are definitely breaking up again when I am through with this box. Willpower = out the window!! Meanwhile, the kitten babies moved on from me and snuggled together. How cute are they??

Courtney came over for dinner and to watch He’s Just Not That Into You with me and Jules. I took over in the kitchen and made whole wheat pasta with tomato sauce and fresh basil, chile lime chicken burgers and roasted eggplant and zucchini to eat while watching the movie. This meal was so quick and easy to make and tasted great!

I thought the movie was really cute and fun. I am such a sucker for any chick flick basically. Court brought over cocoa meringues and brownie bites from Whole Foods for dessert. The meringues were good but the brownie bites were amazing! Between the three of us, we ate almost the whole container. Too bad I didn’t check until AFTER eating them that the brownies are almost 100 calories each!!!!! No wonder my belly was stuffed beyond belief by the end of the movie.

Today I made the regular yogurt mess but added Puffins instead of Kashi. Don’t worry, I measured them out this time!!

I also broke into this banana around 11 AM. I bought this just for the Superfood sticker!

Lunch was somewhat boring but good, just a bowl of Progresso minestrone soup. I didn’t have anything packed when I was running out the door, but am glad that I grabbed this so I didn’t have to spend money or calories on ordering food.

Instead, I got the same sweet treat as Friday, my favorite no-sugar added light half mocha half vanilla ice blended from the Bean. MMM!

Enjoying my view!

Enjoying my view!

After work, I got an early start on dinner with a Newsroom 9 Grain bread heel topped with a schmear of Better N’ Peanut Butter and some cherry jelly. I was just too hungry to wait!

Even though the toast kept me full for another hour or so, I was still craving CARBS and debated mashed potatoes and pancakes but decided on continuing the breakfast theme with an omelet. I used 1/2 cup egg beaters, vidalia onion, basil and mushrooms, with red pepper slices on the side. The breakfast theme let me have another bread heel with jelly on the side ๐Ÿ™‚

Then Julia and I headed out to a BBQ restaurant to meet some guys from her work for a drink.ย  I had a glass of Pinot while we chatted away. Knowing the bartender meant we got a nice free top off! I avoided eating any of the fries, but did steal Julia’s pickle! It was nice getting out and having some entertaining convo after a long day at the office. Jules is leaving tomorrow for MN and I just wanted to soak up my Julia time!!! I am going to miss her!!!

Long story, but around 11 PM we headed to Santa Monica to scope out parking spaces for Julia to leave her car for the week. We just walked back in the door (it’s 12:30 now) and I can tell that my blood sugar has seriously hit rock bottom because I am being a total crank yanker and am about to make a bowl of instant oatmeal. Instead of taking/uploading a boring picture of that, I leave you with this…

…the video Fight From Above debuted Friday night! Pretty awesome, right?! Don’t the boys sound great?? I am the one in the red plaid/sunglasses at the party and then the leather jacket/bangs at the end in case you couldn’t pick me out. Yes, lighting up…for artistic effect you guys!!

Don’t worry, I didn’t forget ๐Ÿ™‚

Three Things for Sunday

  1. Made sure to measure out portion sizes for everything I cooked for breakfast,
  2. lunch, and
  3. dinner.

Three Things for Monday

  1. Passed up the Sprinkles cupcakes in the office (my work enjoys torturing me)
  2. Brought lunch instead of buying
  3. Ate dinner before going out to the BBQ place

Friday morning, usual breakfast. Someone brought in a big box full of donuts but my yogurt mess was just so much more appealing. I can’t go without it!

I packed lots of veggies for the day, so I broke into my sugar snap peas at 11 to tide me over until lunch.

These greens held me over for an hour or two before I heated up a can of Progresso onion soup. At 100 calories, this is PERFECT for bulking up! I had a slightly stale piece of ciabatta bread that soaked up the soup wonderfully and tasted amazing.

I had more colors on the side; orange butternut squash…

…and yellow pepper slices!

I had a hankering for a sweet treat and since it was pay day, I swung by Coffee Bean on my way to the bank and grabbed a light half mocha half vanilla no-sugar added Ice Blended. When did coffee names get so LONG?! Anyway, it totally hit the spot ๐Ÿ™‚

Friday at work was much less intense than the rest of the week, and we all got some catch-up work done. Right before I left the office, I had a cinnapple for workout fuel. Eating a small snack right at the end of the day is a great gym motivator because I always want to go burn it off and build up my appetite again for dinner!

I did 45 minutes of intervals on the elliptical before heading to Ulta for some glam accessories for the night. I needed eyeliner and ended up with a new mascara and some fake eyelashes too! Got to play up those baby blues! Anyone else try the false lashes before? Last night was my first time and they looked awesome and were so easy to wear, even though I was worried about them falling off all night LOL ๐Ÿ™‚

I headed home for a dance party with the roommate while we got showered and ready. Kate J and Kate W came over for pizza and wine. (Yes, another Kate! Are you confused yet?!). I had two slices of the veggie pizza from Cheebo but skipped the booze.

Then we made our way over to the Viper Room to hear Katie Jo’s boyfriend’s band. The music video came out AWESOME! There are some really cool shots of yours truly in there! I will definitely put up the link after the guys post it online. I grabbed a Bud Light and we all danced the night away. The whole gang came out in full force, and it was great to see everyone. I also ran into my ex, who I haven’t seen in months. It was really weird talking to him…the girls reclaimed me though and we headed to another bar for more dancing. I did two rounds of girly watermelon shots before calling it a night. Best part about hosting dinner at your place before going out? Leftover pizza when you get home!

Saturday morning I woke up early and still totally full from my late night pizza snack. I watched TV for a while and made a batch of whole wheat pancakes around 10 AM. I gave these a sweet twist by adding 1 tbsp cocoa powder and the last 10 semi-sweet chocolate chips I found in a bag in my closet. These few choc chips were the perfect touch! Topped with 1 tbsp vanilla bean maple syrup and 1/2 banana…

After breakfast, I bummed around for a bit and cleaned a little too. A little after noon, I decided to run a few errands and made a piece of toast with Better N’ Peanut Butter and cherry jelly to hold me over for the next few hours.

I headed over to the office since I left my camera cord there and couldn’t charge or upload photos. Can’t have that!!! The parking lot was oddly full…?! After Target and TJ, I went home and eagerly dug into my splurge purchase, PUFFINS!

This cereal and I had to break up for a bit because I couldn’t NOT finish the box in two days. I snacked on a few extra handfuls throughout the afternoon, but didn’t sit down with the box and mindless just eat it — that’s progress ๐Ÿ™‚

Around 8, I headed over to Whole Foods where the nicest guy behind the meat counter helped me pick out a 4 ounce piece of organic beef. I had such a craving for red meat and mashed potatoes! This dinner was one of my very favorite meals growing up. I made the smash using 1 Russet potato boiled and mixed with a little less than a tablespoon of butter and a few splashes of milk and salt. I finished out the meal with some corn, sugar snap peas, and hickory BBQ sauce for dipping. I felt just like I was at the dinner table in Jersey again!!!

I had good intentions to go out but ended up relaxing at home instead. I’ve been looking for a new TV show to watch and decided to give True Blood a try. I ended up staying awake until 2 AM catching up on the first season — I really like it! I had a Skinny Cow and one more handful of Puffins while watching.

Three Things for Friday

  1. Avoided the donuts in the office
  2. Got a light Ice Blended to curb my sweet tooth
  3. Skipped the wine with dinner

Three Things for Saturday

  1. Used 1 potato to make my mashed potatoes for portion control
  2. Portioned my meat by having the butcher wrap up 4 ounces of meat (my eyes are usually bigger than my stomach!)
  3. Ate a Skinny Cow for dessert instead of going out to get ice cream

My breakfast was so good on Wednesday, I just had to repeat it! One of the bread heels was skinny like paper, which made me feel like I was just eating a nice layer of Dark Chocolate Dreams. Can’t complain! I also had half a cinnapple on the side.

Weย celebrated one of my co-worker’s birthdays yesterday, so cupcakes were passed around at 10 AM. I hid mine away so I wouldn’t be tempted; I was much more interested in the ice cream cake we got for after lunch!! Noontime meal was my favorite Lean Cuisine bowl with extra broccoli and the other half of my cinnapple. MMM!

After lunch I finally found the perfect purse for my sister (I say perfect because I sent her a picture text of it and she approved LOL) and hit up the Farmers’ Market for some eggplant, zukes & corn on the cob. I got back to a huge spread of more cupcakes and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream cake. No picture because we had a mini party and ate in my boss’s office BUT the cake had a brownie bottom and was two layers of ice cream: cookies & cream and peanut butter cookie dough. I had a normal sized slice and enjoyed every single bite. It was OH so good!!!

After cake, we were all smiles — lucky me had my employee review scheduled right after! My bosses were in fabulous moods and the review went great. I even got a little raise WHOOP!!!!! It’s nice to feel like I am progressing and movin’ on up!

My cake eats would have been enough to motivate me to get to the gym but my roomie was having a crapola day so we blew off all our other plans and headed down to the beach for a long walk.ย  The paths down there are PERFECT for relaxation.ย  I mean, how can you not be happy when you are looking at THIS?!

We started in Santa Monica and walked 3 miles to J’s usual food spot in Venice, The Terrace Cafe.ย  This place is so beachy and ridiculously cute. The owner is this Russian dude who wanted to be best friends. He sat us at a corner table and proceeded to send over the hottest waiter in the place. Thank you! I got a Penfolds Chardonnay to sip.

After scanning the massive menu for probably 30 minutes (meat? fish? asian? pasta? salads? HELP!!!), we ended up ordering food NOT on the menu…turkey burgers! I got mine with red peppers and avocado with fries on the side. I took off the bun again and didn’t eat the bread on the bottom either — I didn’t even miss it! More room for fries is what I say ๐Ÿ™‚

After we licked our plates clean, the owner came back over to chat.ย  He told us that Russians know the way to drink and brought us shots of Russian vodka with PICKLE chasers. I was thinking no way, but he shoved it in my hand and told me to hurry up!!! Umm, ok, sorry sir! FYI, the pickles do NOT do much of anything, even though he tried to convince us that they make the shot taste like a nice warm burn of water. HAHA, right!!ย We were pretty entertained and our new best friend made sure to call us over for hugs & cheek kisses when we left.

Of course the vodka was 8 million proof and we were a wee bit tipsy for the 3 mile walk back to our car. We tried to jog for like one minute and then realized we just ate a huge meal and drank V so we stopped.ย  Hello cramping stomach!ย  We stuck to Main Street instead of cavorting with the bums on the beach in the dark and stopped for drinks at Coffee Bean.ย  I got a Toffee Rooibos tea latte with non-sugar vanilla powder and skim milk.ย  It was so insanely good!!!

We got home still feeling a little snacky from the walk back so I ate a skinny cow…

…while packing!ย  Oh yeah, for my exciting weekend plans — VEGAS!!! The other week, I got a call from my sweet Georgia peach Ali telling me she was going to be in Vegas. Since it’s just a hop away from LA (read, car ride), I am planning to drive down today when I get out of work and just spend the weekend drinking fruity thangs poolside and playing at night. I am so excited to see Alicat!!!! She was my very FIRST LA friend and basically the reason I know all my girlfaces out here now. She literally made the first year I lived out here 8 gajillion times better.ย  She is awesome and fabulous and gorgeous and I love her!!

So I will be MIA this weekend since I am not taking a computer, but I will take lots of pictures!ย  It is rainy and gross here in LA so I am extra excited to get some poolside sunnin ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ll try to post again before I peace out but if not, have a great weekend y’all!!!!ย  I will soak up some rays for you!
Three Things for Thursday
  1. Skipped the 10 AM cupcake and brought it home for the roomie
  2. Added extra veggies to my Lean Cuisine bowl
  3. Ate my turkey burger again sans bread and cheese

My coffee this morning was insanely delicious…I am officially addicted to this Godiva stuff!

I also had a really great yogurt mess while making some phone calls to the east coast. Three years later and the time difference still throws me off!

I cleaned for a bit in an attempt to have a productive morning! My kitchen was fairly spotless but now it’s a mess again of course. Making lunch at home on a Monday made me SO HAPPY. It’s so much easier to eat a delicious and healthy meal when I have time to COOK one. Usually I am scrambling around in the morning to pull something together, so it was awesome to take my time and make exactly what I was craving. I had lemon pepper seasoned chicken, broccoli, and half a baked acorn squash that I salted and then stuffed with baked cinnapple cubes.ย  The salty/sweet combo was OFF THE HOOK!

After lunch, Julia and I took Kate the Dog for a long walk down by the beach. We parked in Santa Monica and walked down and through Venice Beach. The crowds were out in full force! It was an amazingly gorgeous day.

We walked for over three hours and my legs were total JELL-O by then! Getting into the car was heavenly. Julia blasted girly music and we sang along at the top of our voices. It was one of those afternoons ๐Ÿ™‚

I was so hungry when I got home! Katie Jo came over and I made quick & easy killer sandwiches. The woman baking bread at Whole Foods suggested a rosemary garlic baguette, which I topped with portobello mushrooms, onions, red peppers, and a sprinkle of light mozzarella cheese.ย  I’ve been planning to make these portobello sandwiches all week and they definitely didn’t disappoint! Half a piece of corn on the cob made the perfect side.

Plus dessert ๐Ÿ™‚

Having a three day weekend was awesome! I’m thinking we might need to institute a national 4-day work week, no?!? I will just work harder those days, promise!!

Three Things for Monday

  1. Made a Coldstone stop with Julia but didn’t order anything. I didn’t even take a bite of hers! My willpower is making an impressive showing this weekend ๐Ÿ™‚
  2. Took a 3 hour walk
  3. Remembered I used real hearty-style bread to make my sandwich so I skipped the usual “insert carb here” dinner side

Right now I am munching on a little bowl of watermelon and wondering why I’m going to bed so late again! My boss is in Europe this week so work should be a little low-key. The new girl starts tomorrow though!! Our team is so small — I really hope she is cool and fits in with the awesome vibe we’ve got going on now. Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend!!

This is going to be a quick one with not too many pictures I’m afraid…I’m tired and ready to get into bed! Breakfast was a yogurt mess, today with TJ mangolicious blend, strawberries and half cup kashi. I picked up some more bananas today, thank goodness!

For lunch I had my new regular turkey and avocado sandwich on Oroweat Light. I was too lazy to make a salad last night so I just brought some frozen broccoli and heated it at work. Hey, it’s green and better than nothing!

After lunch I took a nice long walk with some of the girls at the office and we picked up iced coffees.

I also had to pull out a Fiber One bar from my drawer stash around 3. Perfect in a pinch!

After work, I ended up at happy hour at Pink Taco with the girls from the office. I haven’t gotten to hang out with them much outside work so I didn’t want to pass this up! While chatting about boys and office gossip, I had two glasses of white wine, plus some chips and salsa. For dinner, I ordered the healthiest thing I could find — chicken tostada bowl, minus the tostada, cheese, sour cream, and dressing. So basically lettuce, tomato, onions, pinto beans, chicken, and guacamole. It was amazingly delicious without all the extras!

We left the bar a little after 7 so I decided to stop at the gym anyway. I did the usual 60 on the elliptical (still need to work on adding in that strength training!!) and actually came home and cooked a meal for lunch at work tomorrow! I need a break from the turkey sandwiches ๐Ÿ™‚

I also returned to discover the big girl version of an Easter basket from my mommy — lots of candy!!ย  I’m not even sure if I can begin to explain how much was in the box…here’s an idea ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m going to pick out a few pieces instead of hoarding the whole stash and get into bed! Night!

Friday morning…do I even have to tell you??

At lunch, I had another big salad with light balsamic vinaigrette to fill me up.

I also had a Lean Cuisine veggie pizza. These are small but good!

Yesterday was payday, aka coffee day! I had to get another Coffee Bean light ice blended after my first of the season last weekend. Love these ๐Ÿ™‚

After work, Julia & I got girlified and ready to go out. We split a glass of wine before getting to the bar. Yup, plastic cups all the way.

We walked over to The Village Idiot for dinner and drinks. We were planning to sit at the bar but it was totally packed! The host liked us though and split a four top so that we could sit down for din. I got a Riesling with my meal!

Since we had never eaten here before, we decided to order a few things to share. We started with a really delicious spicy rock shrimp soup. Sorry about the blurry photo!

We also ordered the veggie pie, which had an amazing flaky crust.

And lots of spinach and artichokes inside! MMM!

We also ordered a nice piece of chicken that came with some onions and greens.

And an awesome dish of broccoli on the side!

The guy sitting at the table next to us grabbed my camera at one point and snapped a pic as we were pondering the dessert menu. Cheese!

Since we were out celebrating (Julia signed a new manager!! And we are all-around awesome of course), we ended up passing on dessert and ordered some champagne instead. Luckily, our bill came with four little lemon shortbread bites!

After dinner, we moved over to the bar. More picture taking ensued, surprise surprise.

And we shared a glass of Malbec with our new bar friends from Australia and the Czech Republic. These two were so funny!

After The Village Idiot, we ended up at a bar game night. I haven’t played card drinking games in forever! I had about half a vodka soda while playing. Yes, I was slowly sipping LOL.

When I got home, some cereal was a must! I know I said I wasn’t going to eat this at night anymore but I was actually really hungry. I had two of these bowls before falling into dreamland.

I have so much to get done today! Tonight is Becky’s birthday party and there are a million and one little errands I want to do before that. Right now I am still in my PJs watching TV sooo we shall see what happens with that. So glad it’s Saturday ๐Ÿ™‚
