Monday I had a great lunch at Clementine, but since I was with a coworker, I don’t have any pictures! I DID have an amazing sandwich that I can’t wait to eat again or try to replicate on my own: roasted sweet peppers with mashed chickpeas, organic heirloom tomatoes, salsa verde and arugula, served open-faced on toasted whole grain bread. Doesn’t that sound heavenly?! It was!

The day passed relatively quickly, and I made it to the gym for some interval action on the elliptical. I picked up dessert on my way back from the gym and didn’t even want dinner! I compromised by eating a yam first (hey, that’s a compromise in my mind!!) before digging into my Yogurtland.

Chocolate, coconut, strawberry and PB froyo with fruit and candies!

Chocolate, coconut, strawberry and PB froyo with fruit and candies!

Breakfast this morning was a yogurt mess, without too much fun fruit. I’m out of mango and strawberries sadly!

I got SO hungry around 11:30 and dug into a white nectarine. It was a little crunchy but I like it that way!

The fruit held me over a wee bit longer until I reached the “official” office lunchtime of noon. Today I had whole wheat pasta shells with veggies and corn on the cob that was leftover from Sunday night. It was delicious but a tiny bit awkward eating corn at my desk! I was trying so hard not to obnoxiously crunch 🙂

The day went sooooooooooo sloooooooooooooowly and I almost didn’t make it to the gym but convinced myself to go and ended up banging out a great hour on the elliptical. I had a super healthy meal in mind but a wicked craving for pizza that won over, so it’s a good thing I hit the gym! I whipped up my quick homemade dough, divided it into three, and used one piece to make a personal pizza.  I was in the mood for a few different tastes, so I ended up doing half tomato sauce/cheese/peppers/red onion/basil, one quarter cheese-less with peppers/red onion/hot pepper flakes, and one quarter acorn squash with pear. Yup, you read that right!!

Today I saw a great savory grilled cheese and pear sandwich featured on The Biggest Diabetic Loser that stuck in my mind all day! This sammie was my inspiration to make a sweet/savory section with squash and pear that tasted FABULOUS!!!

The other slices were pretty good too 🙂

For whatever reason, pizza always prompts my sweet tooth, so I had a Skinny Cow fudge pop and a handful of M&Ms. Seriously good thing I made it to the gym, right?!

Thursday morning I woke up so happy to get the long weekend started. WHOOHOO!

I had one more last minute thing to finish for the client whose project I’ve been working on the last week, so the day flew by pretty quickly.  I didn’t even have a minute to leave for lunch! But I did manage to squeeze in some fruit and a Lean Cuisine.

Look at those blackberries!!

I was working down to the wire since we were leaving early but at 3 PM my boss told me send the last email and PEACE OUT.  Love that. I came home and settled down with one of my girly books (Jemima J, always re-read this one!) and some TJ pita chips. Reduced guilt? Sea salt? Sign me up!

After the snacking, I decided to go for a little run.  I haven’t been in the mood to exercise lately but I think a lot of that is because it’s late and I am tired by the time I get home from work.  Getting home earlier today meant I had an extra two hours, and with the sun still out, I was super motivated to get outdoors!  I ended up doing a 2.7 run (okay, okay, jog) around my neighborhood and didn’t stop to walk once!! This might not sound like much but it felt huge to me, even though I was jogging along pretty slowly at the end, I kept going! I was a red sweaty mess afterward. Sexy, I know.

I showered, shaved and exfoliated like whoa so I could hit up the tanning salon next door for a spray tan.  I’ve never tried one of these before but I figured with the next few days of beach/pools/bbqs it would be nice to have some color rather than be a white/red splotchy mess. I felt like an idiot doing the “poses” in the Magic Tan booth, but I love the look! I might possibly be hooked…then I swung by Whole Foods to grab the Amy’s burgers that Jess recommended.  My summer meal was made complete with some SP fries, pickles and corn on the cob.

Yum! Loved the burgers!

After my late dinner, Julia came home for some serious girl chat time. What would I do without her?! Then of course we had to race to Yogurtland before closing time…yes, it closes at midnight and yes, we needed to get froyo even though it was so late.

Summer Lovin!

Happy almost 4th!!!

Tuesday morning I was back to basics with the usual yogurt mess. I had to go without bananas though, which was as sad as it sounds 🙂

My day was CRAZY busy! I had time to break for lunch but no time to leave the office. Thank goodness for my window. I wouldn’t see much daylight without it! Luckily I brought some food and made a sandwich with Oroweat toast, a Gardenburger Sun Dried Tomato veggie burger, sammie pickles, and some leftover roasted zuchini and eggplant. In theory the sandwich was tasty, but I absolutely hated the burgers. I have had these in my freezer for ages (like, a year, literally) and I definitely still don’t like them. I’ll have to try this with a different filling next time!

I had the rest of Monday night’s corn & veggies on the side.

I also had a generic Fiber One bar (Targgie brand!!) to get that icky veggie burger taste out of my mouth.  It’s been sitting in my drawer for months (man, I should stop eating old food, huh?) so it was pretty stale but it definitely held me over the rest of the day!

The rest of the day was v. busy but I got a lot done and set up some really nice editorial hits for my clients, which is always great! I got home with a craving for something extra nice after my less-than-stellar day of eats — PIZZA! How much do I love knowing how to make pizza dough?!? This meal is now one of the easiest things for me to whip up. Hmm could be dangerous! I used 1/3 of my honey whole wheat dough to make a personal pizza topped with tomato sauce, light cheese, basil, mushrooms, vidalia onions and crushed red pepper. It was amazing as always 🙂

After dinner and some laundry, I ran out to grab bananas and apples (cinnapple, I miss you!) and picked up some froyo with sprinkles from Yogurtland. I ended up with pistachio, taro, raspberry creme, chocolate & PB flavors in my cup. Heaven on a big pink spoon!!!

I was STUFFED to the max after this and spent the rest of the night reading and watching TV. I made it into bed by 11, whoop whoop!

It’s BAAAACK…Three Things for Tuesday

  1. Ate my stale Target bar instead of going out to buy a snack
  2. Skipped happy hour with work peeps (we had Wednesday already planned so I just picked one of the two!)
  3. Picked up froyo instead of ice cream on my grocery run (I debated, but I am predisposed to eat most the carton!)

Today my beloved bananas were back in the mix. It’s weird, I loved bananas when I was little and then literally was disgusted by the smell, texture, look of them for YEARS and now I love them again!

Today was almost as busy as yesterday, this time with lots of meetings. We had a client lunch at Craft, Tom Colicchio’s restaurant.  Here is a photo from the website of the decor. Isn’t it pretty??

I started with 1/2 slice warm pumpernickle bread, then ordered the roasted Sea Bream (a white fish), which came with some baby artichokes.  I also had a bite of baby broccoli, one mushroom and one bite of risotto from my bosses’ plates. The food was good but we ate like baby birds and I was still pretty hungry. For dessert we got a rhubarb-strawberry crumble, a berry shortcake, and some sorbet.  I had a couple bites of each one.  The rhubarb was definitely my favorite!

After some more meetings, I got hungry again (bites here and there just can’t cut it!) so I broke out the cinnapple. Big kiss for this baby!!

After work, I headed home to get changed and ready for my co-worker’s “surprise” birthday party. I use that term losely because he knew all about it! We went out for Mexican, 2-for-1 happy hour at a cute little place in boystown. Sorry I don’t have pictures — lame-O for you guys! I had a Corona Light, half a chicken burrito, and about a half dozen tortilla chips. I chilled out for a bit and then headed back to my place. I passed Yogurt Stop on the way so of course I had to grab a little cuppa goodness for the walk home!!

Three Things for Wednesday

  1. Ordered roasted fish instead of some of the heavier dishes at Craft
  2. Didn’t clean the dessert plates at lunch!
  3. Got Corona Light instead of a margarita and split my meal with E.

I had another sleepy/snacky day! Unfortunately, I also had work and apparently sleeping and eating all day is frowned upon at the office, hmmm. For breakfast, I squeezed in a yogurt mess before the big Monday meeting.

It wasn’t too bad today, but it did drag through the whole morning and right up to noon. I didn’t bring a lunch today so I had to pick something up and had the hardest time deciding! E. and I ended up heading to Coral Tree Cafe for a bowl of onion soup and half a special tuna sammie (no mayo anywhere!!).  I usually get this tuna on a salad but was craving the soup & bread today. Sorry about the cell phone pics!

The soup had one little slice of french bread floating on top. It looked funny, but tasted great!

After lunch, I still felt crazy snacky but held off for a bit before digging into a Blueberry Z-Bar. YUM!

All my food lasted me throughout the rest of the day and until dinner. I was practically nodding off at my desk by 5, so I skipped the gym and headed home instead. I started with a bowl of mixed veggies topped with lemon pepper.

Then I used the last 1/3 of my pizza dough to make a lil pie topped with mushrooms, green peppers, fresh basil, red onion and red pepper flakes. SO GOOD!!! I’m drooling all over my own picture and could definitely eat this again right this second!

Yup, the hunger bug won’t stop biting me so I drove over to Yogurtland for a cup of froyo. Those little brown dots are choc covered sunflower seeds. They were awesome!

I’m gonna try to get into bed early so maybe I will have more energy tomorrow. Hopefully I’ve banished the munchies for the rest of the week 🙂

Three Things for Monday

  1. Stopped snacking after the z-bar (this actually required some willpower LOL)
  2. Made a bowl of steamed veggies to bulk up dinner
  3. Measured the sauce & cheese for my pizza

Finally Friday!  I bet you can guess what I had for breakfast…

For lunch, I had a PBJ, made with Oroweat Light Wheat bread, Better N’ PB, and a little bit of strawberry rhubarb jelly.  This low-cal version of the original is nice on days when I predict some more snacking to come. I am always snacky on Fridays!  I also had another cinnamon apple and a 100-calorie bag of PopChips on the side.

The chips got passed around a bit, so there weren’t quite as many to crunch! They were really fresh and vinegary though, which I loved.

Late afternoon, I snacked on some tea and blueberries before going into a meeting. I buy blueberries frozen for my yogurt because they are much cheaper, but these fresh ones were on uber sale, so I had to grab some!

Work ended on a somewhat stressful note, ugh. I was very happy to peace out for the weekend. I swung by Blockbuster on the way home to grab Bride Wars, then Yogurtland for froyo.  Some ingredients for the perfect night in!

I have been so inspired by Biz’s success with the 3o day Shred that I asked my mom if she would like to get shredded with me this month!  I have been talking a lot about toning my arms and tummy and having to be accountable to my mom will definitely help 🙂

So last night I checked out Level 1 on On Demand and sent my mom an email on how to access all the workouts. Now all I need to do is take my measurements and stick with it! I can do 20 minutes a day, right?!  My muscles were a little sore after all the free weights I did yesterday, but I pushed through. The cats think shredding is possibly the most interesting thing to happen to them…Ella kept trying to jump up on my legs while I was doing butt kicks HAHA.

After shredding and showering, I got into some snugly clothes for my night in.  I had some frozen peas while cooking.

For dinner, I used my last piece of dough to make another spinach/mushroom calzone.  It was so delicious!!

For dessert, I had a nice cup of froyo (mix of chocolate, toasted coconut, PB and pistachio flavors) topped with sprinkles and dried cantaloupe.

I enjoyed all these goodies while watching Bride Wars — such a cute movie! I am such a sucker for chick flicks; even if one isn’t technically very good, I still love it, you know what I mean?!?  Anyway, I really needed a night of absolute relaxation and I got it!! I used to have pizza/Blockbuster nights with my mom and sisters all the time on summer vacations, and it was a little bit of a bummer knowing they are all the way across the country. Luckily, I am going to see my middle sister in just TWO weeks, so I can’t wait for that 🙂

Three Things for Friday

  1. Subbed Better N’ PB and light bread for a lower-cal version of a PBJ
  2. Snacked on blueberries instead of a Fiber One bar in the afternoon
  3. Skipped the wine with dinner (saving my drink calories for the fun fest tonight!!)

Thursday was quite possibly the most ridiculous day I’ve had in a long time. Started off with a dented bumper accident on the way to work — 100% my fault. The very first accident I’ve ever had or been in, so I had no clue what to do. At least I thought to get the other person’s insurance info!! On my car, the license plate got bended in a little and that’s it. CANNOT believe I did that; I felt so terribly!!

Breakfast sort of passed by in a daze…I had this Perfect 10 bagel with almond butter and a cinnamon apple without even noticing it.

Then I went to heat up a Lean Cuisine at work and found the fridge empty. YUP, someone ate mine by mistake. Really not my day. Luckily Thursday is Farmers’ Market, so I picked up a sweet corn tamale and ate that with a nice juicy red pepper half. These things are addictive, plus I love sweet corn times a million.

I also had some mushrooms that were supposed to top my LC pizza! Oops.

Then one phone call with my roommate turned my frown upside down when I found out that she could meet up for Mexican and Margaritas. THANK GOODNESS! Julia, Kate and I ordered 3 things to share — delish nachos, a steak quesadilla, and some chips w/pico de gallo.  Then we had one too many of these lovelies, house margaritas on the rocks with salt. Hello, heaven!

Since we were at a sports bar packed with guys, our waiter was a smitten kitten and brought over some shots. Two rounds actually. Which tasted good(ish, let’s be honest) at the time…but lead to froyo. Yes, packed with sweet treats.

Wait til you get a view of what’s under that fruit…

Hello, sugar overload!  I ate some of this before I was inexplicably (haha, yeah right!!) way too full and could not eat another bite. Thanks girls for saving me from my bad day yesterday and THANK YOU JULIA for being a saint 🙂

Happy Friday everyone!!

Friday I left the office and hit the gym for 60 strong minutes on the elliptical. I was rocking out to the Goo Goo Dolls and pounded out a great workout. For dinner, I remembered — no meat! but I didn’t want to go down the pizza route so I decided to experiment a bit. First, I cooked and smashed a sweet potato with some salt & pepper. Then I heated up a half cup black beans and a half cup corn, plus some cilantro and red onion. I threw all of this on a La Tortilla Factory tortilla and VOILA! Dinner was born. This was such a good combo!!

And since the tortillas are only 50 cals apiece, I just divided the toppings and had TWO 🙂

After dinner, I grabbed a quick cup of froyo from Yogurtland. This time I only added sprinkles and mango. I am giving myself a huge pat on the back for not overloading from the toppings bar LOL

Later, I went bar hopping with some friends but only had one glass of a very yummy organic white wine. Here’s Julia and I braving the cold on the walk back to the car. Yes, we are sharing a coat 🙂

Today I woke up and it was SO SUNNY outside! Not hot, but sunny! I had 2 slices of toast with almond butter and cherry jelly with coffee in bed with Scarpetta. Heavenly!

After breakfast, I had a nice walk with Julia, Nick, and Kate the dog. So many Kates in my life HA! I snacked on this banana around noon when we got back.

Then I hit up 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica.  This strip of shops, restaurants, bars, and street performers is just off the beach and one of my favorite sunny weekend destinations.  I got two cute tops from the huge (3 story!) Forever 21 before grabbing my beloved Panera for a late lunch.  I had half my favorite sandwich, the Bacon Turkey Bravo. Not very diet friendly, but oh so good.

Plus a cup of black bean soup

And some doughy french baguette. I had this piece times 2 for dipping 🙂

I ate lunch in a grassy sunny spot overlooking the beach. Isn’t Cali puuurty?

After shopping on the promenade, I went to visit Katie Jo and we continued my day of walking with a nice sunset hike. I wish I had my pedometer on me to clock how many miles I did today! It was great getting in lots of outdoors exercise. I snacked on some grapes when I got home.

For dinner tonight I wanted to use up some chicken so I cooked up a piece with 2 tbsp Bone Suckin Sauce, mushrooms, and red onion and added it on top of some spinach & arugula.

I also had a little yogurt mess on the side 🙂

Now I am debating another night of froyo?! I’ll let you know what happens with that one tomorrow 🙂
